Invest in Yourself!

When we invest money into something we usually don't see the benefit right away. It takes time and patience to see the payoff that inspired us to even begin in the first place. There are many ways to invest in yourself. Many people spend hard earned time and money on themselves learning to protect, be aware, and become stronger. This can be achieved while learning martial arts. The investment takes time, practice, and study, but the benefits pay off as they create life changing results and support groups through training and classes.

No matter the style, martial arts helps students become healthier and grow their mind, body, and spirit to become stronger. Any size and age can benefit from the right programs. Dedication to self-improvement through martial arts brings increased poise, focus and awareness, physical strength and techniques that will allow you to defend and protect if necessary.

No matter which martial art you choose to focus on, make sure to invest 100% and you will see the benefits in all aspects of your life.

1. Self- Defense

The pursuit of martial arts studies will give useful self-defense techniques to practice and the repetitive practice of techniques helps them to come naturally if you ever need them. Han Mu Do students know how to defend themselves this way, because each technique focuses on different self-defense situations, and suggests a variety of escapes and counter attacking techniques that allow the practitioner choices in different situations.

2. Overall Self-Confidence

Students become empowered by studying and training in martial arts. Confidence levels naturally soar, as students incorporate moves that allow them to defend themselves. As they continue their training, they will eliminate feelings of stress, doubt, anxiety, and fear, while boosting their self-esteem in the process. Ongoing education increases mental toughness and grows self- control. Students transform as Han Mu Do starts to integrate through their daily lives.

3. Martial Arts is a Social Activity

Group Han Mu Do classes offer a family-type environment. Set up to socialize, make friends, push each other, and be with people that have goals and the same standards of respect and etiquette. This community structure allows for camaraderie, relationships that have the potential to last a lifetime. Students motivate and inspire each other as they celebrate overcoming personal challenges and work towards goals together.

4. Get Strong and Be Healthy

Students will burn calories in class through the total body workout. An hour-long class with moderate intensity can burn up to 500 calories! An active warmup/stretching sequence at the start of each class helps increase muscle tone and flexibility, and build heat. Classes include cardio and strength training hidden in the practice of self-defense techniques such as punching, kicking, throwing, choking, and joint-locking techniques. Gross and fine motor skills are developed through practice. As we age gracefully, improved motor skills shield us from debilitating, age-related injuries and illnesses.

5. Relieve Stress and Anxiety

Stress and anxiety fill our lives, sometimes influencing the activities of our daily lives. Taking time to practice Han Mu Do in a group class will give students time to unplug from their daily lives and be present in a class that will help them grow, unwind, and relax. The endorphins the body releases through a class will counter the day’s stress, helping them return to a relaxed state and be ready for whats next. There will be improvement in overall mood and focus in daily life, with a drive to continue to improve as the journey continues.

6. Mindfulness Practice

Learning to control the mind is a huge part of the battle. Practicing mindfulness with meditation and focus will increase awareness. When you're present in daily life you will be more focused in daily tasks and more aware of your surroundings. This keeps you safe and out of situations you don't want to be in. Han Mu Do gives you tools to stay present in the moment and mindfulness to increase the quality of your daily life. Paying attention in classes and not letting the mind wonder helps the students practice these skills in a safe environment.

7. Develop a Healthy Lifestyle

Soon as Han Mu Do training begins, we'll see students start to adjust their lifestyle habits. When students start to get their mind and body in tune, they are able to listen to what their bodies really need. This results in better nutrition, a better supported immune system, quicker recovery periods and sustaining a healthy bodyweight. Living the best possible life and doing our best everyday and every way is the goal of a Han Mu Do student. The more you practice improvement in all areas of your life the better things get!
